The birth and youth of Compositio Mathematica: ‘Ce périodique foncièrement international’
2006
The journal Compositio Mathematica was founded by Luitzen E. J. Brouwer to counter his dismissal from the Mathematische Annalen in 1928. In spite of the economic crisis, Brouwer succeeded in finding a publisher (Noordhoff), an editorial board and subscribers. The founding took place at the time of the rise of the Third Reich, which caused problems of a political nature. The German editors followed Ludwig Bieberbach in 1934 when he left the board because Brouwer refused to dismiss the Jewish editors. After a period of flourishing, the publication was suspended at the beginning of the occupation of Holland in 1940. The post-war restart of the journal led to a painful conflict between Brouwer …

QUI SONT LES "GATEKEEPERS" DE LA RECHERCHE EN COMPTABILITÉ ?
2008
Gender presence on the editorial boards of journals in the Women's Studies subject category
2022
In the scientific journals, being part of the editorial boards, including the journals' members and chief editors, involves holding positions of power and responsibility that affect the running of a journal. Until now, these positions have usually been held by men in most scientific disciplines. In this study, the gender composition in the editorial board members (EBMs) and editor-in-chief (ECs) of the 45 Women's Studies journals classified in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) was analyzed. The following indicators were calculated: the gender distribution of ECs and EBMs by journal, publisher, country, and quartile of the journal in the JCR; the geographical area of the members; and the gen…
Benefits of the relations between editorial board members and scholarly journals. The case of Ibero-American journals of psychology
2017
[EN]: The objective of the present work is to delve into the publication habits of members of editorial committees of Ibero-American journals of psychology, collected in the Web of Science (WoS) between the years 2013 and 2015. Different bibliometric indicators were used and the results reveal a disparity in the participation of editorial board members from one journal to another, including a shorter article acceptance time and a larger number of citations, mainly in Web of Science and BIOSIS. Many of the editorial board members are researchers of recognized prestige in their discipline; therefore, by publishing articles in the journals in which they play a role, they offer a guarantee of s…
